R.I.P. 💔

In 1988 or 89, my friend Laura gave me a Gift Dertificate of $25 for a tattoo at Spotlight Tattoo. It was a beautiful Gift Certificate. I took it to the Studio and presented it to Bob, who had a little laugh, as he told me it was not his gift certificate. My friend was with me.

I came thinking he could fix up my tattoo, which was fading, in less than 3 years. But he said it wouldn’t work, and best to cover it up. I wasn’t sure what to cover it with, but decided on a Black Panther, as I remembered as a child, that’s what I wanted when I was a little girl and saw my Uncle with a Road Runner tattoo on his bicep. Bob had this huge book, and I went through it till I found the right one, then went off with his son to xerox it. Next thing I know, I’m getting this huge panther on my back. As I was a walk-in, and he didn’t have that much time, and an hour and a half was enough for me in one go, He sent me home with it half finished, with some instructions for care, and to retune in a week.

I went back a month later.
